An excellent walk through Inverness along the Ness River to where it spills out into the ocean at Carnac Point. Then the trail passes through the Merkinch Local Nature Reserve to the scenic Caledonian Canal. It follows the canal towpath around to south Inverness then connects to the Ness River at the Ness Island. The trail then comes back to Inverness Castle and back to the starting point in the center of Inverness.
