Initially built in the 1300's, the Xi'an City Wall is a great location for a long hike or bike ride. Electric tram rides and single or double bikes are rented near the main gates. The South Gate has the longest hours and the most services.
The wall is especially scenic and photogenic at night because the red lanterns, temples, buildings and the outside of the wall are lit up in a spectacular fashion.
Operating Hours:
South Gate: 8:00 - 24:00
East/North/West Gate, Hanguang Gate, Wenchang Gate, Heping Gate, Zhongshan Gate, Shangde Gate:
May - Oct.: 8:00 - 19:00
Nov. - Apr.: 8:00 - 18:00
Single and double bikes can be rented and turned in until 22:00 at the South gate.
